Activities Available for Children
Showing children the African bush and all its secrets will almost certainly be the highlight of your holiday. But a family safari doesn’t just mean game drives. Although sitting in a vehicle is perhaps the most conventional way to view game, it’s not the only one. Children safari activities also include:

  • Bug collecting, fishing trips, treasure hunts and frogging safaris
  • Spoor identifying and dung collecting
  • Creating moulds of animal tracks in the wild
  • Drawing, colouring, painting and bead making
  • Helping wash safari vehicles in the staff village
  • Baking and decorating cookies
  • Unique children's menu: wild dog's hot dogs, fish eagle's favourite dish, python's penne pasta, prickly porcupine's, pizza, and plenty more
  • Pizza making in the boma
  • Fireside stories and marshmallow roasting
  • Bedtime stories placed in rooms each night

The above activities are available at Phinda Mountain Lodge, Ngala Safari Lodge and Kirkman's Kamp. Each lodge offers its own fun, creative twist – not all activities are available at each lodge.
